摘要內容:
Magnetoencephalography (MEG) non-invasively measures the electromagnetic signals induced by brain activities. It can provide spatiotemporal brain activation imaging with high temporal resolution to facilitate functional brain research in both clinical and basic neuroscience fields. A fundamental property of the brain is oscillatory activity spread over multiple frequency bands. This activity can be detected by MEG as background or resting rhythms originating from e.g. sensory and motor cortices. Specific events/stimuli can modulate these rhythms by creating transient synchronizations. Synchronization can appear at local scale (single region) or at larger scale between spatial separate areas. In the latter case, patterns of transient oscillatory synchronization of distant cell assemblies provide information about functional connectivity and neural dynamics. The problem of estimating the activation/oscillatory sources in the brain from the MEG recordings is called the inverse problem. In this talk, several methods of synchronization detection and dynamic source imaging will be introduced.
