  Abstract. The Euler-Poisson (EP) system is a fluid model for the dynamics of ions in electrostatic plasma. We introduce our result on the small amplitude limit of the EP solitary waves to the KdV solitary waves. We also study the linear stability of the EP solitary waves. To study the eigenvalue problem, we employ the Evans function approach. These are joint works with B. Kwon.
