摘要內容:
Abstract. SLE originally means "stochastic Loewner equation". Now we usually refer to it as "Schramm-Loewner evolution". This field first appeared in 2000. It has many facets:
1. It is a nonlinear transformation of Brownian motion;
2. It is a stochastic differential equation;
3. It is (conjecturally) the universal non-crossing interface of (almost) any (nice) model in statistical physics;
4. Lastly, my favorite viewpoint: it teaches me what is the "best" way to connect two points in the plane. I will explain why connecting two points by a straightline is not perfect, and why this SLE way is very beautiful and very deep.
SLE achieves tremendous success after its introduction in 2000. Now, it seems to be just the tip of an iceberg. This new definition of "straightlines" opens up the possibility toward a field called "random geometry", which is flourishing in the last few years. In particular, it becomes an effective tool in the mathematics of string theory, due to the work of Polyakov and Sheffield.
The methodology is usually a heavy mix of probability and complex analysis, plus more.
