摘要內容:
Substrate guided self-assembly of soft matters is proposed in the present study. Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) is employed to simulate the system at the mesoscale. First of all, the interaction between a semi-rigid rod and a micelle composed of surfactants is studied. The simulation shows that the conformation of the micelle attached to the rod is determined by the force between the hydrophilic head of the surfactant and the rod. It also shows that a micelle makes two perpendicular rods parallel. However, the length of the rod restricts the rotation. Further, three rods form a rib-like structure when the attractive force is strong, but form a triangular bundle when the attractive force is weak. On the other hand, surfactants with proper concentration form a bi-layer structure in water. Simulation shows that a hydrophilic or hydrophobic substrate, or a patterned substrate, can be used to control the direction of the bi-layer, either parallel or perpendicular to the substrate. Therefore, a soft template is provided and the rods are aligned in the layers composed of water and the heads of surfactants.
