In this talk we shall discuss the monotonicity in the overdamped case, or underdamped case, or nonlinear damping case of the Frenkel-Kontorova model. Furthermore, we shall discuss the consequences of the monotonicity and the explanation of some physical phenomena from the point of view of dynamical systems.
