  This talk consists of two parts:
  In the first part, the fundamental idea of inverse problems will be given with some historical remarks. Theory and methods for solving inverse problems will be addressed with emphases on regularizations of ill-posed problems. In the second part of this talk, an example from the field of inverse scattering problems making use of the treatment in the first part will be worked out in details.
