In this talk I will present results from studying hydrodynamically interacting semi-flexible filaments immersed in Stokes flow. Semi-flexible, inextensible filaments are large molecules such as DNA, actin filaments, or elastic fibers. Hydrodynamic interactions between two such filaments are found to have a significant impact on filament buckling and their subsequent motion in Stokesian fluids. In this talk I will present recent results on such dynamics. For flows with more than two interacting filaments, a new numerical scheme will be presented to show how great efficiency can be achieved in numerical simulations of multi-filament flows.
