摘要內容:
Many problems in mathematics, biology, physics, engineering, fluid dynamics, etc., lead to nonlinear differential equations with symmetries. The existence of a large variety of various symmetric (and asymmetric) periodic solutions in autonomous symmetric differential systems can be established by establishing an occurrence of a symmetric Hopf bifurcation. In my talk, I will present the idea of the equivariant degree and the advantages of the equivariant degree method, in studying the symmetric Hopf bifurcation phenomena in various types of dynamical systems with symmetries. Motivated by applied models we will analyze a simple neural network modelling the legged locomotion and establish the existence of different gaits i.e. oscillations). The ideas behind the construction of the equivariant degree and its theoretical roots will also be presented. This talk is of an introductory (self-contained)character and is designated to general audience, without assuming any prior knowledge of the presented material. The presented work was accomplished in collaboration with Z. Balanov, M. Farzamirad, H. Steinlein, H. Ruan.
