Regulations for Undergraduate Students


In case of having discrepancy with the Chinese version the latter shall prevail. In other words, the version as demonstrated here is for sole purpose of having a reference only. Whenever any concern may arise, please contact the Department office for an official version of the regulations.

Department of Applied Mathematics 
Undergraduate Course Selection Regulations

by the Curriculum Committee

  1. Required subjects and credits for the department are listed in the attachment.
  2. Students who do not achieve a grade of D or higher in Calculus (I) may not enroll in Calculus (II).
  3. Students who do not achieve a grade of D or higher in Introduction to Analysis (I) may not enroll in Introduction to Analysis (II).
  4. Transfer students who have passed Calculus or whose Calculus scores meet the standards set by the department's Calculus Teaching Committee may be exempt from taking Calculus. Credit exemption for Calculus will be processed according to the regulations of the Registration Office. Exemptions for other subjects will be determined with the assistance of relevant departments.
  5. In addition to the required subjects specified by the department, students must select and pass at least 16 credits of professional elective courses offered by the department.
  6. Required courses in the department must be taken within the department, regardless of whether it is the first time or a retake. Under special circumstances, students may apply to the Curriculum Committee for approval to take the course outside the department.
  7. Students wishing to take advanced courses in other departments (as recognized by the department's Introduction to Computers instructor) must apply before enrolling. Upon approval by the department's Curriculum Committee, students may take courses offered by other departments to substitute for Introduction to Computers (I) or (II). A credit exemption application must be submitted after achieving a passing grade.
