Abstract:
Abstract. Japanese total fertility rate has been low for more than 45 years since it fell below the population replacement level in 1976. The effect of this trend is that the population has been declining for the last ten years since the 2010 census until 2020, the year of the most recent census. Three factors determine demographic trends: fertility, mortality, and migration. These factors are characteristic of each age group and each prefecture, and they interact with each other to determine the population dynamics. In this study, we examine the effects of these factors on the population decline for each prefecture-specific fertility and interregional migration in each age group using the theory of the multiregional Leslie matrix model, which considers these interactions.Download:Talk_1120411.pdf
